Race Night

The R.W.M. Bro. Ronnie Ford would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Brethren who took part in the success of the fund raising race night. It is vital not only for the maintenance of the of the Lodge but the moral of its members that we continue to organise these events and raise funds at the same time, once more a hearty vote of thanks for you effort.

The race night was an overall success with around 40 or so in attendance we managed to raise over £600 for the lodge funds. The night was different with the use of DVDs and with music videos between races. An enjoyable night was had by all.

Almoners Report

Bro Alan Thomas Parker, who was formally in the HDU at Kent and Canterbury Hospital in Canterbury, Kent. has now been transferred to a care home in the Hamilton area, he has very little memory recollection of anything due to his illness, but enjoys the company and banter of the Brethren who have been visiting.

Bro. Frank Beetham P.M. has been reported as very poorly over the past three months, he has undergone several tests and procedures in hospital and after a period of rest and recuperation has returned to his duties in the Lodge, much to to the pleasure of the Brethren

Bro. Wm. Thomson MM and past fifty year member of 557, has been very ill over the past year and has spent several weeks in hospital, any bro. who knows Willie knows he's not a complainer and he will only comment "auld age doesnie come it's sell" bro. Willie attends meeting when ever possible and the brethren are always pleased to see him.

John Ralston Memorial Trophy

R.W.M. Bro Ronnie Ford would once more like to extend his thanks, to the Brethren who not only took part but those who organised the trophy and other details around this event, we will now look forward to competing each year (with the hope of getting our name on the winners list) and the date will be firmly marked in our Masonic calendar.

The bowling match at Riccarton BC Kilmarnock on the first weekend was another great success. We all enjoyed the day, had a good wee libation with some of us ending up at our own Bowling Club for an hour or two on arriving back home. The return leg  Thursday 3rdJune saw Bro Wm. Berry and co. defeated in the semis. They reported another good day.

The instruction class is proving to be an ongoing success under the watchful eye of Bro. Frank Beetham PM, and is a breath of fresh air to see so many new members becoming more and more involved in the ceremonial part of our meetings.  A new era is setting a very high standard of our Masonic Workings, any brother wishing to come along to these classes will be made most welcome. (you don't need to be taking part in degree work to attend the classes)
